Our Lady of Consolation Kicks-Off Its Tenth Annual Golf Classic
Annual Event to Honor Fred & Catherine Romito, Owners of East Islip Lumber, Inc.
West Islip, NY 11795 – Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center recently held a kick-off for its Tenth Annual Golf Classic, which will take place on Monday, September 29, 2003 at Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore. Fred and Catherine Romito, owners of East Islip Lumber, Inc., will be honored as longtime supporters and friends of Our Lady of Consolation. As residents of Bay Shore for more than thirty years, the Romito’s have devoted much time and philanthropic support to their local community as well as many service organizations throughout Long Island.
Mr. Romito has served as a member of Our Lady of Consolation’s Board of Trustees since 1995. In addition, he serves on the Board of United Cerebral Palsy of Suffolk County and is a founding member of Long Island Commercial Bank. He has also served as a board member of the Children’s Developmental Center and participated in the fundraising efforts for the earthquake relief of Saint Angelo Di Lombardi in Italy and the “Shoot for a Cure” breast cancer benefit for the Women’s Health Partnership of Suffolk County. Professionally, Mr. Romito was awarded both the Northeast Retail Lumberman’s Association and the Long Island Lumber Association’s “Lumber Person of the Year” award for outstanding service to the associations and the community. Additionally, he is a member of the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club, Inc. Mr. Romito attended SUNY at Farmingdale. From 1956 to 1964 he served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard.
Along with her husband, Catherine Romito is active in the local community. She has served as a member of the Good Samaritan Hospital Bay Shore – Brightwaters Guild for ten years, and was a past Ambassador-at-Large for the Bay Shore Summit Council. Mrs. Romito has also served on the Bay Shore Beautification Society.
Mr. & Mrs. Romito have been married for 43 years. In addition to their two grown children, Fred and Teresa, they are cherished by their daughter-in-law, Susan and granddaughter, Mikaela.
