Sharps Acceptance Program Available for Community Residents at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center

West Islip, NY 11795 – As part of its infection control program, and in accordance with Department of Health standards, Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center will be accepting sharps (i.e. needles, syringes and lancets) from members of the local community who use them for medical self-maintenance. The used sharps may be delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the security office at Our Lady of Consolation. Sharps will only be accepted in shatterproof, leak-proof and puncture resistant liquid laundry detergent containers that are tightly capped and standard sharps containers. Our Lady of Consolation is a 450-bed nursing and rehabilitative care center conducted by the Sisters of St. Dominic since 1894 and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
