Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center Receives JCAHO Accreditation Renewal

West Islip, NY 11795 – Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center is pleased to announce that its Long Term Care and Long Term Home Health Care programs have successfully passed their Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) renewal of accreditation survey, which occurs every three years after initial accreditation is awarded. Our Lady of Consolation received its initial accreditation in March of 2001.

By demonstrating continued compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization’s national standards for health care quality and safety, Our Lady of Consolation has earned renewal of their endorsement by the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.  Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation.  

Our Lady of Consolation’s President & Chief Executive Officer, Dennis J. Verzi, praised direct caregivers and support staff alike in working to meet the Joint Commission's benchmarks of quality.  "Everyone works hard to achieve and maintain the quality of care standards required for this recognition. We view it as another step towards excellence."

Our Lady of Consolation is a 450-bed nursing and rehabilitative care center conducted in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Dominic since 1894 and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). As a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, Our Lady of Consolation plays an integral role in the health care delivery system of the Diocese of Rockville Centre and offers expertise in the field of long term care and sub-acute care. In addition to skilled nursing home care including geriatric care, rehabilitative care, respiratory therapy and medically complex care, Consolation offers specialized dementia disease care for individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and related dementia diseases.
