West Islip, NY 11795 – Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center recently honored the Sisters of the Order of St. Dominic at Consolation's Tenth Annual Celebration of Life Ball, held at Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore. Brian H. Madden, president and chief executive officer of the Garden City-based Liberty Title Agency, LLC, served as this year's event chairperson.

The Sisters of the Order of St. Dominic were named this year's honorees in recognition of their outstanding dedication to making Our Lady of Consolation one of Long Island’s premiere healthcare facilities. Their untiring efforts, devotion, vision and years of service have left an indelible mark on Our Lady of Consolation, the nursing home industry and our community.

The Sisters of the Order of St. Dominic, a religious Congregation of over 600 women, began an educational ministry in Brooklyn, NY in 1853. Today, the Sisters work tirelessly in their ministry, preaching to the people of God throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk and other parts of the United States as well as in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Colombia.

"We are extremely proud to honor the Sisters of the Order of St. Dominic for all they have done for Our Lady of Consolation and our surrounding community,” said Dennis J. Verzi, Consolation's president and chief executive officer. “We are blessed in not only having the strong tradition of compassionate care handed down from the Sisters, but they continue to share their vision and values through active members of the congregation working every day at Our Lady of Consolation."

Our Lady of Consolation established the Celebration of Life Ball in 1994 to recognize individuals and businesses in the local community for their contributions to the vitality, quality of life, and economic growth of Long Island. Funds raised by the Celebration of Life Ball directly benefit programs and services for the patients and residents at Consolation.
