Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center Receives Grant for the Benefit of Nursing Recruitment and Retention

West Islip, NY 11795 – Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center has been awarded a grant of up to $564,957 by the New York State Department of Health as part of the New York State Nursing Home Quality Improvement Demonstration Program. The program enables nursing facilities to address their respective recruitment and retention needs for non-supervisory workers or any worker with direct patient care responsibilities. Our Lady of Consolation will use the grant to develop career ladders for nursing staff and provide additional training to improve the overall quality of care. Areas within the focus of the Consolation’s project include ventilator and respiratory services, physical rehabilitation, Alzheimer’s care and geriatric services.

Our Lady of Consolation is a 450-bed nursing and rehabilitative care center conducted in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Dominic and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). As a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, Our Lady of Consolation plays an integral role in the health care delivery system of the Diocese of Rockville Centre and offers expertise in the field of long term care and sub-acute care. In addition to skilled nursing home care including geriatric care, rehabilitative care, respiratory therapy and medically complex care, Consolation offers specialized dementia disease care for individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and related dementia diseases.
