Our Lady of Consolation, a non-profit, mission-based organization, as a member of CHS is continuing the work of the religious women who founded hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other Long Island agencies reaching back more than a century. In addition to the primary health and human services provided by CHS entities across the region, blood drives, free wellness seminars, support groups, and other community health-related events and programs are offered year-round.
Senior Citizen Discount Meal Plan
Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center offers a discounted meal program to all senior citizens in the local community. This program consists of a hot, nutritious dinners, seven days a week. These meals will be served in the employee cafeteria between the hours of 4:30pm and 6:30pm at the cost of $4.00 for a complete dinner including dessert. Aside from offering a nutritious meal, this program is also an opportunity to meet other seniors in your community. Our Lady of Consolation is located at 111 Beach Drive in West Islip. Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center’s Pastoral Care Department provides a bereavement support group to community members mourning the loss of a loved one. Our Lady of Consolation, in collaboration with Stroke Life Society, provides a Stroke Support Group. This support group is open to the community as well as residents and family members of Our Lady of Consolation. Stroke Life Society is a grassroots community organization of survivors and co-survivors in the pursuit of living and helping others. A stroke can be very isolating; by sharing experiences and encouraging one another, together we can face and overcome common challenges. Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center offers Family/Caregiver Support Group Meetings. These meetings are open to the community and are being held in the board room. Led by social workers from Good Shepherd Hospice and Our Lady of Consolation, each meeting offers information regarding how to deal with stress/emotions, coping mechanisms, adjusting to new roles, caring for yourself, end-of-life issues, community resources, and all-around support.
